යාலுva

Project ‘යාலுva’ is one of the touching initiatives done every year by the Rotaract in Rotary International District 3220 Sri Lanka and Maldives, in line with World Down Syndrome Day, which falls on March 21st. This is the rebranded World Down Syndrome Day celebration held for the past ten years. This year Rotaract Clubs of Athugalpura, Chunnakam, Excellence, Faculty of Science University of Colombo, Jaffna MidTown, Trincomalee, University Alumni, University of Colombo, Faculty of Management and Finance, University of Kelaniya, University of Peradeniya and Uva Wellassa University – Badulla in the district got together to organize Yaluwa 2021-22.

It was implemented in two phases this year; a virtual phase followed by a physical phase, as we needed to adapt to the new normal.

Public relations played a major role in the first phase, as the awareness we wanted to build in the society about the cause was high. Hence, The first phase was conducted as a post series on well-known persons having Down’s Syndrome, where their own ideology on the Syndrome as well their lives and what they have achieved was shared as an inspiration to all of us while educating the general public.

The public relations activities happened through the ‘යාலுva – World Down Syndrome Day Celebrations – Sri Lanka’ Facebook page, handled by the Rotaract in Sri Lanka and Maldives exclusively for project Yaluwa. That page alone had more than 3400 followers, and along with it, the host clubs involved shared the posts, giving a much higher reach to the project.

In addition, the university media units were approached for the media partnerships, and we were able to get FOS Media, Pera Beats, UVA Rayon, Wayo Scope, and Colombo Beacon on board as the official media partners of the project Yaluwa. The posts were shared by the official Facebook pages of these media partners as well, through which we were able to reach out to a greater audience.

The second phase was held from the 21st to 29th of March 2022 at the Wathupitiwala Hospital with a group of kids with Down Syndrome to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day.  First on the agenda was a presentation done by Dr. Dhilini and the staff at the Wathupitiwala Base Hospital Down Syndrome unit on identifying down syndrome kids and proper treatment for these kids. The doctors also highlighted different down syndrome patients who have excelled in their lives and are living a normal life now. This awareness session was helpful as it gave knowledge to everybody about these down syndrome conditions.

Afterwards, a few entertainment items were performed by the kids. Then the book prepared by the Faculty of Medicine of University of Colombo on creating awareness of Down Syndrome Kids was presented to the Wathupitiwala Base Hospital Down Syndrome unit.

Next in line were the arts and crafts activities organized for the kids. Kids were given items such as paper, Chalk, markers, and stickers and were asked to make a card of their choice for their parents. Through this segment, the creative skills of these kids were showcased. The event was concluded by providing lunch to all those who were presented on the day. As another outcome of the project, a medical record book for Down’s syndrome kids was prepared with the guidance of Dr. Dhilini.

On the same day, there was another event coinciding with this event at Ark School, Uduvil. Ark school is a specialized school for intellectually disabled children (intellectual disability (ID), once called mental retardation, is characterized by below-average intelligence or cognitive ability and a lack of skills necessary for a day-to-day living). People with intellectual disabilities can learn new skills, but they learn them more slowly. There are varying degrees of intellectual disability, from mild to profound. As the school requested, we organized a few seasons with a few interactive sessions. There were self-introduction sessions, an Art session followed by an Art competition and some entertainment programmes.

This project was arranged to make the children happy and feel that they are also skilled and talented extraordinary human beings in society. We hope that we were able to make them feel very special.

Undoubtedly, this initiative will capture all the hearts of people, not only Rotaractors one day. Let us make this “’යාலுva” initiative more and more successful in the future too.

ඩවුන් සින්ඩ්‍රෝමය ඇති කරන විසි එක්වන වර්ණදේහය ත්‍රිගුණ වීමේ සුවිශේෂීත්වය පෙන්වනු පිණිස ලෝක ඩවුන් සින්ඩ්‍රෝම දිනය මාර්තු මස 21 වන දින සමරනු ලැබේ. සෑම වසරකම එම දිනය සිහිපත් කරනු වස් රොටරි අන්තර්ජාතික දිස්ත්‍රික්ක 3220 හි රොටරැක්ට් සාමාජිකයන් “‘යාலுva” නම් හදෘයාංගම ව්‍යාපෘතිය සිදුකරනු ලබයි. දස වසක් පුරාවට දිගහැරුණු මෙම ව්‍යාපෘතිය, 2021-22 වසර වෙනුවෙන් දියත් කරන ලද්දේ Athugalpura, Chunnakam, Excellence, Faculty of Science University of Colombo, Jaffna MidTown, Trincomalee, University Alumni, University of Colombo, Faculty of Management and Finance, University of Kelaniya, University of Peradeniya සහ Uva Wellassa University යන රොටරැක්ට් සමාජයන් විසිනි.

කොරෝනා සමඟ ලොවම වෙනස් වූ මොහොතක, සාමාන්‍යකරණය වූ නව තත්වයන්ට හැඩ ගැසෙන්නට මෙම ව්‍යාපෘතිය online මෙන්ම විවිධ ස්ථානවලදී අදියර දෙකක් යටතේ සිදු කළා. පළමු අදියරයේ දී, මෙම රෝගය පිළිබඳව සමාජය දැනුවත් කිරීමේ භාරදූර වගකීම කරමතට ගත්තේ Public Relations කණ්ඩායම යි. ඩවුන් සින්ඩ්‍රෝමයෙන් පෙළෙන සුප්‍රසිද්ධ චරිත, ඔවුන් සිය රෝගය ගැන දක්වන ආකල්ප සහ ඔවුන්ගේ ජීවිතය ගැන Post මාලාවක් පළකර සමාජය දැනුමින් සන්නද්ධ කිරීම සහ ආකල්පමය වශයෙන් දියුණු කිරීම කරන ලදී.

ශ්‍රී ලංකා සහ මාලදිවයින් රොටරැක්ට් සංවිධානය විසින් මෙහෙයවන ලද අනුගාමිකයන් 3400 සිටින ‘යාலுva – World Down Syndrome Day Celebrations – Sri Lanka’ facebook පිටුව වෙන් වූයේ මෙම ව්‍යාපෘතියේ මහජන සබඳතා කටයුතු සඳහාමය. විවිධ තොරතුරු බෙදා ගැනීමෙන් පමණක් නොනැවතී FOS Media, Pera Beats, UVA Rayon, Wayo Scope, සහ Colombo Beacon වැනි විශ්වවිද්‍යාල මාධ්‍ය කව වල මාධ්‍ය අනුග්‍රහය ලබා ගෙන වැඩි ප්‍රේක්ෂක පිරිසක්ව  ආමන්ත්‍රණය කිරීමට ද සත්කාරක රොටරැක්ට් සමාජයන් කටයුතු කරන ලදි.

දෙවන අදියර ලෙස, මාර්තු මස 21 යෙදි ඩවුන් සින්ඩ්‍රෝම දිනයට සමගාමීව මාර්තු මස 29 වැනි දින වතුපිටිවල මූලික රෝහලේදී ඩවුන් සින්ඩ්‍රෝමය සහිත පොඩිත්තන් සමඟින් ඩවුන් සින්ඩ්‍රෝම දිනය සමරන ලදී. න්‍යායපත්‍රයේ පළමු දේ වූයේ “ඩවුන් සින්ඩ්‍රෝමයෙන් පෙළෙන දරුවන් හඳුනා ගන්නේ කෙසේද සහ එම දරුවන් ට නිසි ප්‍රතිකාර ලබාදෙන්නේ කෙසේද?” යන්නයි.  මේ පිළිබඳව වෛද්‍ය දිලිනි සහ වතුපිටිවල මූලික රෝහලේ ඩවුන් සින්ඩ්‍රෝම් අංශයේ කාර්යය මණ්ඩලය විසින් සිදුකරන ලද දේශන කිහිපයකින් සමන්විත විය. ඩවුන් සින්ඩ්‍රෝමය පරදවා සාමාන්‍ය දිවියක් ගෙවන, කාලයක් ඩවුන් සින්ඩ්‍රෝමයට ගොදුරුව සිටි පුද්ගලයින් පිළිබඳ ව වෛද්‍යවරුන් අවධාරණය කරන ලදී. ඩවුන් සින්ඩ්‍රෝම් තත්වය පිළිබඳව පැමිණ සිටි සියලු දෙනා දැනුවත් කිරීමට එම අනර්ඝ සැසිය ඉවහල් විය. ළමුන් විසින් ඉදිරිපත් කරන ලද විනෝදාත්මක අයිතමයන්ගෙන් දිනයේ වෙහෙස සරතැස හිරු දුටු පිණි බිඳු මෙන් අතුරුදන් විය. ඉන් අනතුරුව ඩවුන් සින්ඩ්‍රෝමය ඇති දරුවන් පිළිබඳ ව දැනුවත් කිරීමට කොළඹ වෛද්‍ය පීඨයේ රොටරැක්ට් සමාජයේ මූලිකත්වයෙන් රචිත ග්‍රන්ථයක් වතුපිටිවල ඩවුන් සින්ඩ්‍රෝම ඒකකය වෙත පිළිගන්වන ලදී.

ළමුන් වෙනුවෙන් අත්කම් වැඩසටහනක්ද මෙහි දී සංවිධානය කරනු ලැබිණි. එලෙසින් පොඩිත්තන්ට කඩදාසි, පැස්ටල් කූරු, මාකර් පෑන් සහ ස්ටිකර් ලබා දී දෙමව්පියන් වෙනුවෙන් අලංකාර කාඩ් පතක් නිර්මාණය කිරීමට පැවසූ අතර එම වැඩසටහන ළමුන්ගේ කලා කෞශල්‍යය විදහා පෑමට හොඳ තෝතැන්නක් විය. දිවා ආහාරයෙන් පසුව සැසිය නිමාවට පත් වූයේ වෛද්‍ය දිලිනිගේ මඟපෙන්වීම යටතේ ඩවුන් සින්ඩ්‍රෝමය දක්වන දරුවන් වෙනුවෙන්ම පිළියෙල කළ වෛද්‍ය වාර්තා පොතක් ද ලබා දෙමිනි.

එදිනම මෙම උත්සවයට සමගාමීව තවත් සුවිශේෂී වැඩසටහනක්, බුද්ධිමය අබාධ සහිත දරුවන් (Intellectual Disability) වෙනුවෙන්ම නිර්මාණය කරන ලද විශේෂ පාසලක් වන උඩුවිල් හි පිහිටි Ark පාසලේදී පැවැත්විය. එදිනෙදා ජීවිතයට අවැසි වැඩක් සාර්ථකව නිමා කිරීමට තරම් බුද්ධිමය හැකියාවක් නොමැති දරුවන්, සාමාන්‍ය මට්ටමට වඩා අඩු IQ අගයක් ඇති දරුවන් හෝ මන්දගාමී මනසක් හිමි දරුවන් බුද්ධිමය අබාධ සහිත දරුවන් ලෙස හැදින්විය හැකිය. බුද්ධිමය අබාධ සහිත වූවන්ට නව කුසලතා ඉගන ගැනීමට හැකි මුත් ඔවුන් ඒවා ඉගෙන ගන්නේ ඉතාමත් සෙමින් ය. එම පාසලෙන් ලද ඉල්ලීමකට අනුව අප ස්වයං හදුන්වාදීමේ සැසි, චිත්‍ර සැසි ඇතුළත් අන්තර්ක්‍රියාකාරී සැසි කිහිපයක් සංවිධානය කළෙමු. චිත්‍ර තරඟයක් ද පවත්වා, අවසන විඩාවට පත් වූ සිත් නිවා සනසා දැමීමට විනෝදාත්මක අංග ද සංවිධානය කළෙමු.

ළමුන් සතුටු කිරීම මෙන්ම ඔවුනුත් දක්ෂ, සුවිශේෂී හැකියාවන්ගෙන් යුතු අය බව ඩවුන් සින්ඩ්‍රෝම් තත්වය ඇති දරුවන්ට තේරුම් කිරීම සඳහා මෙම වැඩසටහන් පෙළ නිර්මාණය කරන ලද අතර, මේ ඔස්සේ ඔවුනුත් සුවිශේෂී හැකියාවන්ගෙන් යුතු උදවිය බව ඔවුන්ට තේරුම් කිරීමට හැකි වූවායි අපි අපේක්ෂා කරන්නෙමු.

රොටරැක්ට් සාමාජිකයන්ගේ පමණක් නොව ජනතාවගේ හදවත් ඇද බැඳ තබා ගැනීමටද යාළුවා වැඩසටහන සමත් වූ බවට සැකයක් නැත.  අනාගතයේ දී තවත් මෙවැනිම ලෙස සාර්ථක වූ, “‘යාலுva” වැඩසටහනක් ක්‍රියාත්මක කිරීමට හැකියාව ලැබේවායි අපි ප්‍රාර්ථනා කරමු!

றோட்டறி சர்வதேச மாவட்டம் 3220 இலங்கை மற்றும் மாலைதீவுகள், மார்ச் மாதம் 21 ஆம் திகதி நடைபெறும் உலக டவுன் சிண்ட்ரோம் தினத்தை முன்னிட்டு, ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் றோட்டறக்ட் மூலம்  ‘යාலுva’ செயற்றிட்டத்தினை முன்னெடுத்து வருகின்றது.  இது கடந்த பத்து ஆண்டுகளாக கொண்டாடப்பட்டு வருகின்றது. இவ்வாண்டு Athugalpura, Chunnakam, Excellence, Faculty of Science University of Colombo, Jaffna MidTown, Trincomalee, University Alumni, University of Colombo, Faculty of Management and Finance, University of Kelaniya, University of Peradeniya and Uva Wellassa University – Badulla ஆகிய றோட்டறக்ட் கழகங்கள் மாவட்டக் குழுவினருடன் இணைந்து 2021-22  ஆம் ஆண்டிற்கான “යාலுva”

செயற்றிட்டத்தினை இரண்டு பகுதிகளாக முன்னெடுத்தனர். ஒரு பகுதி மெய்நிகராகவும் மற்றைய பகுதி நேரடியாகவும் நடைபெற்றது 

மக்கள் தொடர்புகள் முதற் பகுதியில் முக்கிய பங்கு வகித்தன. இதன் நோக்கம் பற்றி சமூகத்தில் நாம் உருவாக்க விரும்பிய விழிப்புணர்வு அதிகமாக இருந்தது.  எனவே, முதற் பகுதி டவுன்ஸ் சிண்ட்ரோம் நோய்க்குறி உள்ளதாக அறியப்பட்ட நபர்களைப் பற்றிய பதிவேற்றங்கள் தொடராக நடத்தப்பட்டது. அங்கு நோய்க்குறி பற்றிய அவர்களின் சொந்தக் கருத்துகள் மற்றும் அவர்களின் வாழ்க்கை மற்றும் அவர்கள் சாதித்தவை பொது மக்களுக்கு வெளிப்படுத்தும் போது நம் அனைவருக்கும் ஒரு உத்வேகமாக அமைந்திருந்தது. 

යාலுva செயற்றிட்டத்திற்காக பிரத்தியேகமாக இலங்கை மற்றும் மாலைதீவுகளில் உள்ள றோட்டறக்ட் மூலம் கையாளப்படும் ‘යාலுva – World Down Syndrome Day Celebrations – Sri Lanka’ என்ற முகநூல் பக்கத்தின் மூலம் மக்கள் தொடர்பு நடவடிக்கைகள் நடைபற்றன.  அந்த பக்கம் 3400 க்கும் மேற்பட்ட பின்தொடர்பவர்களைக் கொண்டிருந்தது. மேலும் அதனுடன், சம்பந்தப்பட்ட ஏற்பாட்டுக் கழகங்களும் பதிவேற்றங்களைப் பகிர்ந்து கொண்டன. இது திட்டத்திற்கு அதிக வரவேற்பை அளித்தது.

மேலும், ஊடகப் பங்குதாரர்களாக பல்கலைக்கழக ஊடகப் பிரிவுகளை அணுகியதுடன், FOS Media, Pera Beats, UVA Rayon, Wayo Scope மற்றும் Colombo Beacon போன்றவற்றை යාலுva செயற்றிட்டத்தின் உத்தியோகபூர்வ ஊடகப் பங்குதாரர்ளாக எம்முடன் இணைத்துக் கொள்ள முடிந்தது.  இந்த ஊடகப் பங்குதாரர்களின் உத்தியோகபூர்வ Facebook பக்கங்களாலும் இடுகைகள் பகிரப்பட்டன. இதன் மூலம் அதிக பார்வையாளர்களை எங்களால் சென்றடைய முடிந்தது.

இரண்டாம் கட்டம் 2022 ஆம் ஆண்டு மார்ச் மாதம் 21 ஆம் திகதி முதல் 29 ஆம் திகதி வரை வத்துபிட்டிவல வைத்தியசாலையில் டவுன் சிண்ட்ரோம் கொண்ட குழந்தைகளின் குழுவுடன் உலக டவுன் சிண்ட்ரோம் தினத்தை கொண்டாடும் வகையில் ஒழுங்கமைக்கப்பட்டது. முதலாவதாக, வத்துபிட்டிவல ஆதார வைத்தியசாலையின் டவுன் சிண்ட்ரோம் பிரிவின் வைத்தியர் திலினி மற்றும் ஊழியர்களால் நோய்க்குறி உள்ள குழந்தைகளைக் கண்டறிதல் மற்றும் அந்தக் குழந்தைகளுக்கான சரியான சிகிச்சைகள் பற்றிய விளக்கக்காட்சி நிகழ்ச்சி நிரலில் முதலில் இடம்பெற்றது. வைத்தியர்கள் தங்கள் வாழ்க்கையில் சிறந்து விளங்கி இப்போது சாதாரண வாழ்க்கையை வாழ்ந்து கொண்டிருக்கும் வெவ்வேறு டவுன் சிண்ட்ரோம் நோயாளிகளையும் முன்னிலைப்படுத்தினர். அனைவருக்கும் இந்த டவுன் சிண்ட்ரோம் நிலைமைகள் பற்றிய அறிவை வழங்குவதற்கு இந்த விழிப்புணர்வு அமர்வு உதவியாக இருந்தது.

அதைத்தொடர்ந்து, குழந்தைகளின் கலை நிகழ்ச்சிகள் நடாத்தப்பட்டன.  பின்னர், கொழும்பு பல்கலைக்கழக மருத்துவ பீடத்தினால், நோய்க்குறி உள்ள குழந்தைகளுக்கான விழிப்புணர்வை ஏற்படுத்துவது தொடர்பாக தயாரிக்கப்பட்ட புத்தகம், வத்துப்பிட்டிவல ஆதார வைத்தியசாலையின் சிகிச்சைப் பிரிவுக்கு வழங்கி வைக்கப்பட்டது.

அடுத்த வரிசையில் குழந்தைகளுக்கான கலை மற்றும் கைவினை நடவடிக்கைகள் ஏற்பாடு செய்யப்பட்டன.  குழந்தைகளுக்கு காகிதம், சுண்ணாம்பு, குறிப்பான்கள் மற்றும் கைவினைப் பொருட்கள் வழங்கப்பட்டு, அவர்களின் பெற்றோருக்கு அவர்கள் விருப்பப்படி ஒரு அட்டையை உருவாக்கும்படி கேட்கப்பட்டது.  இதன் மூலம், இந்த குழந்தைகளின் படைப்புத் திறன்கள் வெளிப்படுத்தப்பட்டன.  அன்றைய தினம் நிகழ்வானது அனைவருக்கும் மதிய உணவு வழங்கி நிகழ்வு நிறைவுக்கு கொண்டுவரப்பட்டது.  திட்டத்தின் மற்றுமொரு பயனாக, டவுன்ஸ் சிண்ட்ரோம் குழந்தைகளுக்கான மருத்துவப் பதிவு புத்தகம் டாக்டர் திலினியின் வழிகாட்டுதலுடன் தயாரிக்கப்பட்டது. 

அன்றைய தினம் உடுவில் ஆர்க் பாடசாலையில் இந்த நிகழ்வோடு இணைந்த மற்றுமொரு நிகழ்வு இடம்பெற்றது.  ஆர்க் பள்ளி என்பது அறிவுசார் ஊனமுற்ற குழந்தைகளுக்கான ஒரு சிறப்புப் பள்ளியாகும் (அறிவுசார் இயலாமை (ID), ஒருமுறை மனநலம் குன்றியதாக அழைக்கப்படுகிறது. இது சராசரிக்கும் குறைவான நுண்ணறிவு அல்லது அறிவாற்றல் திறன் மற்றும் அன்றாட வாழ்க்கைக்குத் தேவையான திறன்களின் பற்றாக்குறையால் வகைப்படுத்தப்படுகிறது).  அறிவுசார் குறைபாடுகள் உள்ளவர்கள் புதிய திறன்களைக் கற்றுக்கொள்ளலாம், ஆனால் அவர்கள் அவற்றை மெதுவாகக் கற்றுக்கொள்கிறார்கள்.  அறிவுசார் இயலாமை சாதாரண நிலை முதல் ஆழமான நிலை வரை பல்வேறு அளவுகளில் உள்ளன.  பாடசாலையில் கேட்டுக்கொண்டது போல், நாங்கள் சில அமர்வுகளை ஏற்பாடு செய்தோம்.  சுய அறிமுக அமர்வுகள், ஒரு கலை அமர்வு மற்றும் ஒரு சித்திரப் போட்டி மற்றும் சில பொழுதுபோக்கு நிகழ்ச்சிகளும் இதில் இருந்தன.

குழந்தைகளை மகிழ்விக்கவும், சமூகத்தில் திறமையான மற்றும் திறமைமிக்க அசாதாரண மனிதர்கள் என்பதை உணர்த்துவதற்காகவும் இந்த செயற்றிட்டம் ஏற்பாடு செய்யப்பட்டது. அவர்கள் மிகவும் சிறப்பானவர்கள் என்பதை எங்களால் உணர முடிந்தது.

சந்தேகத்திற்கு இடமின்றி, இந்த முயற்சி ஒரு நாள் றோட்டறக்டர்கள் மட்டுமல்லாமல் அனைத்து மக்களின் இதயங்களிலும் இடம் பிடிக்கும்.  எதிர்காலத்திலும் இந்த “’යාலுva” முயற்சியை மென்மேலும் வெற்றியடையச் செய்வோம்.
