“Christmas is the season for kindling the fire of hospitality”

With Christmas just around the corner, Rotaract Club of Alumni of University of Moratuwa hosted the third episode of “Let’s Meet” with the theme “Joy of Christmas” under the Club Service Avenue, on the 23rd of December 2022. We visited the little souls at Noguchi Child Development Center, Boralesgamuwa hoping to make their Christmas extra special.
Prior to the event, we called out for donations to collect sufficient funds to make the festive day brighter for the tiny tots. Indeed, we are quite grateful for the generosity of all those noble hearts. The day started with so much excitement. As we stepped inside, we were welcomed by beautiful faces sparkling with innocence and love. We joined in with the staff and kids with the decoration of the place. When all was done, the place wore a festive look with bells, streamers, and a beautifully decorated Christmas tree.
We put together some events to kindle the evening with delight. The little munchkins bubbled up with energy, humming in the tune of songs with us while some also sang beautiful melodious songs. The jingle bells song was also done with a jig that got the entire audience singing along. The essence of Christmas came alive with the entry of Santa Clause, which took everyone by surprise. The boundless joy of celebrating the day was profusely visible on the faces of the kids, especially when Santa jiggled around to the lovely Christmas songs. There were short eats, candy, and cupcakes which kept the little ones occupied through the evening. We also arranged music and entertainment. The celebrations heightened as the children were presented with special Christmas gifts, which we had previously listed based on the preferences of each child. We wrapped up the day playing cricket with the children.
Finally, it was time to say goodbye. It was a different kind of satisfaction felt from the depth of our hearts. The visit left an intense impact on us. Their farewell smiles proved how their Christmas was overloaded with tons of memories and happiness. Indeed, it was surely a Christmas to remember.
