RYLA 2022

At first glance, RYLA might sound like the acronym of a boring term or even an organization, but there’s a lot more to it than that.

RYLA now stands for ‘Rotary Youth Leadership Academy’. Earlier it was referred to as “Rotary Youth Leadership Awards” and is a programme conducted for Interactors and Rotaractors around the world. The prime purpose of this programme is to groom the next generation of leaders in both movements, along with creating a safe space for them to foster healthy friendships and camaraderie. Each year, RYLA is conducted with a different set of objectives, albeit the core focus is centered around leadership and its relevant parameters. As serious and technical as it all sounds, RYLA is actually quite fun.

This year, RYLA of RI District 3220 took place at the Che adventure park on the 12th & 13th of March. Registrations commenced at 9:00am followed by both interactors and rotaractors gathering at the mess hall. The chief instructor for RYLA 2022, Mr. Kolitha Rathnayake (someone who’d worked alongside the steering committee for the preceding RYLAs), briefed all the participants on the agenda for the day. This was followed up by a few words from the RYLA Chair, DIR, DRR, DRRN and other officials from the Rotary movement.

Following this, members of both movements were split into 4 teams, namely, Alpha, Bravo, Charlie & Delta. Once everyone had settled into their respective teams, each team was expected to perform a victory dance. This was then followed by group games, where the Interactors and Rotaractors were expected to combine their strengths together and work as one unit. As unprecedented as this was, the members of both movements put all their efforts into making their respective teams perform extraordinary feats within this ephemeral span of time.

Having concluded the team building activities, the Rotaractors moved into discussions with the instructors on the lines of speaking, listening, presenting and overall communication. This was a complete roundup of the essential qualities required by team leaders at present. Moving through we were presented with ways in which we could develop our empathy and agility as youth.

Subsequently, we concluded the educational sessions and arrived at the awards ceremony for the Interactors. The Rotaractors were anointed as the guards of honour for the Interactors and we gave them a grand farewell home.

What followed was something we definitely had not anticipated: a DJ and barbeque. All of us Rotaractors sang, danced and ate our way through the night all the way into the next day. We would have continued well off late into the morning, if not for our instructors signalling us to go to bed and meet them at 6:00am the next day.

Rubbing sleep off our eyes, the teams assembled at the grounds and we were put through our paces with a series of workouts. Running and jumping through the grassy terrain while hearing our bellies rumble from hunger kept the adrenaline coursing through our veins. Concluding our various workouts, we sat cross legged for a 15min meditation session and we honestly couldn’t comprehend what we experienced. Listening to the sound of birds chirping, leaves rustling and an occasional gust of wind blowing our way was something all of us would gladly accept any day of the week.

Then we rushed helter-skelter to the washrooms to wash off all the muck and organize ourselves for the next session. We were given the opportunity to anonymously write and put forward our various problems which will then be read and given a solution for by the chief instructor. This was uncharted territory for most of us, as we’d definitely never spoken of our issues in public, but we braved it all and found deeper meaning in the solutions given to each individual’s troubles.

The last event for the day was the group presentations where the groups had to present what they learned and how they felt about RYLA. Each group presented their very own take on what they’d learnt through the past two days and how they planned to implement these learnings in their very own clubs and for the betterment of society in the near future. Overall, it was extremely endearing to witness the teams come forward with their experiences on RYLA and express it in a manner they felt comfortable with.

Shortly afterwards and much to our dismay, it was time for us to return to Colombo signalling that the awards ceremony was imminent. The best Rylarian Male and Female were both chosen from the crowd and the participants were awarded with their respective certificates of participation. We wrapped it all up with a last cup of tea and a bunch of snaps to secure and cherish the memories made for the years to come.

From being complete strangers less than 48 hours ago to connecting with each other through the course of the next 2 days, simply through a bunch of team- building activities and sessions was too good to be true.

Learning from each other and bonding through all the obstacles we were put through is clear proof of strength in numbers.

All in all, we can sincerely attest to RYLA 2022 being a holistic, fun and educational two days with lessons we will definitely carry forth for the rest of our lives.

RYLA කියන වචනේ ඇහුව ගමන් සමහර විට හිතෙන්න පුළුවන් මොකක් හරි සංවිධානයකට හරි කණ්ඩායමකට හරි කියන නමක් කියලා. හැබැයි ඇත්තටම මේ RYLA කියන නමට ඊට වඩා ගොඩක් විශේෂ තේරුමක් තියෙනවා.

RYLA, කියන්නේ “Rotary Youth Leadership Awards” කියලා තමයි මුලදී හැඳින්වුයේ. හැබැයි දැන් මේ නම වෙනස් කරලා තියෙනවා “Rotary Youth Leadership Academy” කියලා. ඉතින් මේ RYLA කියලා කියන්නෙ, ලොව පුරා සිටින රොටරැක්ට් වගේම ඉන්ටරැක්ට් සාමාජික සාමාජිකවන් වෙනුවෙන් ක්‍රියාත්මක කරන වැඩසටහනක්. මේ වැඩසටහනේ මූලිකම අරමුණ වෙන්නෙ, ඉදිරි පරම්පරාවේ නායකයන් හැඩගස්වන එක වගේම ඔවුන් අතර තියෙන සම්බන්ධතාවයන් වඩාත් ශක්තිමත් කිරීමයි. ඉතින් හැම අවුරුද්දකම මේ තියෙන මූලික අරමුණුවලට ගැළපෙන විදිහට තවත් අරමුණු මූලික කරගෙන සෑම දිස්ත්‍රික්කයකම රොටරි සංවිධානයේ මූලිකත්වයෙන් ක්‍රියාත්මක වෙනවා. RYLA කියන්නේ බරපතල බැරෑරුම් වචනයක් විදිහට දැන් තේරුණත් ඇත්තටම හරිම විනෝදජනක වැඩසටහනක්! හැම රොටරැක්ට් සාමාජිකයෙක්ම මේ වැඩසටහනට සහභාගිවෙලා ඇත්තටම ඒ අමතක නොවන අත්දැකීම ලබාගන්න ඕන.

රොටරි අන්තර්ජාතික දිස්ත්‍රික්ක 3220 හි RYLA වැඩසටහන මාර්තු 12 සහ 13 යන දිනවලදී හංවැල්ල Che Adventure Park හී දී පැවැත්වුණා. ලියාපදිංචියෙන් පස්සේ RYLA වැඩසටහන ගැන සහ දින දෙක පුරාවට ප්‍රධාන උපදේශක විදිහට කටයුතු කරන Mr. කෝලිත රත්නායකවද හඳුන්වාදීමෙන් අනතුරුව RYLA Chair, DIR, DRR සහ DRRN ඇතුළු කිහිප දෙනෙකුගේ සහභාගීත්වයෙන් සැසියක්ද පැවැත්වුවා.

එයින් පසුව සහභාගී වූ සියලුම රොටරැක්ට් සහ ඉන්ටරැක්ට් සාමාජිකයන්ව Alpha, Bravo, Charlie සහ Delta යන කණ්ඩායම්වලට බෙදා විවිධ ක්‍රියාකාරකම් ලබාදුන්නා. මේ ක්‍රියාකාරකම් තුළින් සියලු දෙනා අතර බැඳීම් ශක්තිමත් කිරීම මෙන්ම එක්ව කටයුතු කිරීමේ හැකියාවන් වර්ධනය කරගැනීමට අවස්ථාව හිමිවුණා.

එයින් පසුව, නායකයෙකු සතුව තිබිය යුතු ගුණාංග, විවිධ අභියෝගයන්ට මුහුණ දෙන ආකාරය මෙන්ම තාරුණ්‍යයේ පසුවන පිරිසක් ලෙසට අප කටයුතු කළ යුතු අකාරය පිළිබඳව දැනුවත් කිරීමක් සහිත දේශන කිහිපයක්ම පැවැත්වුණා.

මෙම වැඩසටහනින් පසුව ඉන්ටරැක්ට් සාමාජිකයන්ගේ RYLA වැඩසටහන අවසන් වුණා.

දින දෙකක වැඩසටහනක තිබෙන විශේෂබව තවත් පෙන්නුම් කරන අපි හැමෝම කැමති DJ රාත්‍රියකට හැමෝටම අවස්ථාව ලැබුණා.

උදෑසනම ආරම්භ වුණ ශාරීරික සුවතා වැඩසටහන සමඟින් දෙවැනි දවස පටන් ගත්තා. වෙනස් විදිහට, ලේසි අමාරු හැම විදිහකම ව්‍යායාම රැසකට පස්සේ පැවැති භාවනා වැඩසටහනත් එක්ක අපේ මහන්සිය නැතිවුණා කිව්වොත් වැරැද්දකුත් නැ.

ඉන් පසුව දවසේ අනෙකුත් සැසි වාර ආරම්භ වුණා. ඒ අතරින් අපිට තියෙන ගැටලු රැසකට විසඳුම් ලැබුණ සැසියක්ද තිබුණා. ඒ සැසිය අපිට ගොඩක් ප්‍රයෝජනවත් වුණ සැසියක් වුණා. මොකද කිව්වොත් අපිට අවස්ථාව ලැබුණා අපිය තියෙන ගැටලු නිර්නාමිකව ඉදිරිපත් කරන්න. අපේ ප්‍රධාන උපදේශක ඒවා බලලා ඒවාට පිළිතුරු ලබා දීමක් සිදුකළා. මෙය අලුත්ම අත්දැකීමක් වුණා. අපිට තියෙන ප්‍රශ්න හෝ ගැටලු අපි ප්‍රසිද්ධියේ කතා කරන්න පුරුදු නැති වුණත්, නිර්නාමිකව කතා කරන්න අවස්ථාව අපිට මේ සැසියෙන් ලැබුණා වගේම බොහෝ පිළිතුරුත් ලැබුණා.

ඒ වගේම, RYLA වැඩසටහන අවසානයේ දී අපිට RYLA ගැන අපිට දැනුණු දේවල් සහ අපි ඉගෙන ගත් දේවල් ගැන ඉදිරිපත් කරන්න අවස්ථාව ලැබුණා. සහභාගි වූ සියලුම දෙනාට RYLA කියන්නේ ජීවිතේට ගොඩක් දේවල් ඉගෙන ගත්ත, අලුත් අත්දැකීම් රැසක් ලැබුණ වැඩසටහනක් වෙලා තිබුණා.

දින දෙකක් පුරාවට තිබූ මේ වැඩසටහනේ අවසානයේදී සහතික ප්‍රදානය තිබුණා. එහිදී Best Rylarian Male සහ Female මෙන්ම Best Team සඳහාද ජයග්‍රහණ ලැබුණ අතර සහභාගි වූ සියලු දෙනාටම සහභාගීත්ව සහතිකද ලැබුණා. ඒ සියල්ලටම වඩා මේ දින දෙක තුළ ලැබූ අත්දැකීම් සහ මිතුදම් අමතක වෙන්නේ නැති බව නම් සැකයක් නැහැ.

ඉතින් අවසානයේ කියන්න තියෙන්න RYLA 2022 කියන්නේ සහභාගි වුණ හැමෝගෙම ජීවිතවල වෙනසක් ඇති කරන්න පුළුවන් වුණ වැඩසටහනක් බවයි!

முதல் பார்வையில், RYLA என்பது ஒரு சுவாரசியமான சொல்லின் சுருக்கமாகவோ அல்லது ஒரு அமைப்பாகவோ கூடத் தோன்றலாம், ஆனால் அதை விட இன்னும் நிறைய இனிமையான விடயங்கள் இதில் இருக்கின்றன.

இந்த ஆண்டு, RID 3220 இன் RYLA நிகழ்வானது மார்ச் மாதம் 12 & 13ஆம் திகதிகளில் the Che adventure park இல நடைபெற்றது. நிகழ்வின் பதிவுகள் காலை 9:00 மணிக்குத் ஆரம்பித்தது. அதைத் தொடர்ந்து இன்டறக்டர்கள் மற்றும் றோட்டறக்டர்கள் இருவரும் ஒன்றுகூடினர். RYLA 2022 இன் தலைமைப் பயிற்றுவிப்பாளர், திரு. கோலித ரத்நாயக்க (முந்தைய RYLA நிகழ்வுளுக்கான வழிநடத்தற் குழுவுடன் இணைந்து பணியாற்றியவர்), பங்கேற்பாளர்கள் அனைவருக்கும் அன்றைய நிகழ்ச்சி நிரலைப் பற்றி விளக்கினார். இதைத் தொடர்ந்து RYLA குழுத் தலைவர், DIR, DRR, DRRN மற்றும் றோட்டறி அமைப்பைச் சேர்ந்தவர்களும் உரையாற்றினர். 

இதைத் தொடர்ந்து, இரு அமைப்புக்களின் உறுப்பினர்களும் ஆல்பா, பிராவோ, சார்லி & டெல்டா என 4 அணிகளாகப் பிரிந்தனர். ஒவ்வொருவரும் அந்தந்த அணிகளுடனும் ஒன்று சேர்ந்தவுடன் ஒவ்வொரு அணியும் வெற்றி நடனம் ஆடுவார்கள் என்று எதிர்பார்க்கப்பட்டது. இதைத் தொடர்ந்து குழு விளையாட்டுகள் நடாத்தப்பட்டன. அங்கு இன்டறக்டர்கள் மற்றும் றோட்டறக்டர்கள் தங்கள் பலத்தை ஒன்றாக இணைத்து ஒரு அணியாகச் செயற்பட்டனர். இது முன்னெப்போதும் இல்லாத வகையில், இரு அமைப்புக்களின் உறுப்பினர்களும் இந்த குறுகிய கால இடைவெளியில் அந்தந்த அணிகள் அசாதாரணமான சாதனைகளைச் செய்ய தங்கள் முயற்சிகளை மேற்கொண்டனர்.

குழுவை உருவாக்கும் நடவடிக்கைகளை முடித்த பின்னர், றோட்டறக்டர்கள் பயிற்றுவிப்பாளர்களுடன் பேசுதல், கேட்டல், வழங்குதல் மற்றும் ஒட்டுமொத்த தகவல்தொடர்பு போன்ற வழிகளில் கலந்துரையாடினர். இது அணித் தலைவர்களுக்குத் தேவையான அத்தியாவசிய பண்புகளின் முழுமையான விளக்கமாக அமைந்தது. இளைஞராக இருக்கும் போது நமது ஆளுமையையும் சுறுசுறுப்பையும் வளர்த்துக்கொள்ளும் வழிகள் அவர்களுக்கு வழங்கப்பட்டன.

அதைத் தொடர்ந்து, கல்விசார் அமர்வுகளைத் தொடர்ந்து, இன்டறக்டர்களுக்கான விருது வழங்கும் விழா ஆரம்பமானது. றோட்டறக்டர்கள் இன்டறக்டர்கள் மரியாதைக்குரிய கௌரவிக்கப்பட்டனர்.

அதைத் தொடர்ந்து நாங்கள் எதிர்பார்க்காத ஒன்று இடம்பெற்றது: ஒரு DJ மற்றும் BBQ. நாங்கள் அனைவரும் பாடி, நடனமாடி, இரவு முழுவதும் மகிழ்வுடன் இருந்தோம். எங்கள் பயிற்றுனர்கள் எங்களை படுக்கைக்குச் செல்லுமாறும், அடுத்த நாள் காலை 6:00 மணிக்கு அவர்களைச் சந்திக்குமாறும் கூறியிருந்தனர். தங்கள் கண்களில் இருந்து தூக்கத்தை துடைத்துக் கொண்டு, அணிகள் மைதானத்தில் கூடின. 

நாங்கள் தொடர்ச்சியான உடற்பயிற்சிகளுடன் எங்கள் வேகத்தை மேம்படுத்தினோம். பசியால் வயிறு சத்தம் கேட்கும் போது புல்வெளியில் ஓடுவதும் குதிப்பதும், நமது நரம்புகளில் அமிலங்களைச் சுரக்க வைத்தது. எங்களின் பல்வேறு உடற்பயிற்சிகளை முடித்துக்கொண்டு, 15 நிமிட தியான அமர்வுக்காக நாங்கள் கஅமர்ந்தோம். பறவைகள் கீச்சிடும் சத்தம், இலைகள் சலசலக்கும் சத்தம் மற்றும் அவ்வப்போது வீசும் காற்று எங்கள் வழியில் வீசுவதைக் கேட்பது வாரத்தின் எந்த நாளிலும் கூட நாங்கள் அனைவரும் மகிழ்ச்சியுடன் ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளும் ஒன்று.

பிறகு, அனைத்து உடலைச் சுத்தப்படுத்தி விட்டு, அடுத்த அமர்வுக்கு எங்களை ஏற்பாடு செய்ய, நாங்கள் அவசர அவசரமாக கழிவறைகளுக்குச் சென்றோம். எங்களின் பல்வேறு பிரச்சனைகளை விரிவாக எழுதவும் முன்வைக்கவும் எங்களுக்கு வாய்ப்பு வழங்கப்பட்டது, பின்னர் அவை முதன்மை பயிற்றுவிப்பாளரால் படிக்கப்பட்டு தீர்வும் வழங்கப்படும். எங்களில் பெரும்பாலோருக்கு இது அறியப்படாத விடயமாக இருந்தது, ஏனெனில் நாங்கள் நிச்சயமாக எங்கள் பிரச்சினைகளைப் பற்றி பொதுவில் பேச மாட்டோம், ஆனால் நாங்கள் அனைத்தையும் துணிச்சலாக எதிர்கொண்டோம். அத்துடன் ஒவ்வொருவரின் பிரச்சனைகளுக்கும் கொடுக்கப்பட்ட தீர்வுகளில் ஆழமான அர்த்தங்கள் இருப்பதைக் கண்டோம்.

குழுக்கள் தாங்கள் கற்றுக்கொண்டதையும் RYLA பற்றி அவர்கள் எப்படி உணர்ந்தார்கள் என்பதையும் முன்வைக்க வேண்டிய குழு விளக்கக்காட்சிகள் அன்றைய கடைசி நிகழ்வாக அமைந்தது. ஒவ்வொரு குழுவும் கடந்த இரண்டு நாட்களில் தாங்கள் கற்றுக்கொண்டதையும், தாம் கற்றுக்கொண்ட விடயங்களை தமது கழகங்களிலும் எதிர்காலத்தில் சமுதாயத்தின் முன்னேற்றத்திற்காகவும் எவ்வாறு செயற்படுத்த திட்டமிட்டுள்ளனர் என்பதைத் தங்களது கருத்தாக முன்வைத்தனர். ஒட்டுமொத்தமாக, எல்லா அணிகளும் RYLA இல் தங்கள் அனுபவங்களுடன் முன்வருவதையும், அவர்களுக்கு வசதியாக, தாம் உணர்ந்த விதத்தில் அதை வெளிப்படுத்துவதையும் காண்பது மிகவும் அழகாக இருந்தது.

சிறிது நேரத்திற்குப் பின், எங்களுக்கு மிகவும் திகைப்பூட்டும் வகையில், விருது வழங்கும் விழாவினைத் தொடர்ந்து நாங்கள் அனைவரும் கொழும்புக்குத் திரும்ப வேண்டிய நேரம் இது. கூட்டத்தில் இருந்து சிறந்த ரைலேரியன் ஆண் மற்றும் பெண் இருவரும் தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்டனர் மற்றும் பங்கேற்பாளர்களுக்கு அந்தந்த பங்கேற்பிற்கான சான்றிதழ்களும் வழங்கப்பட்டன. நிகழ்வின் போது உருவாக்கப்பட்ட நினைவுகளை, வரவிருக்கும் ஆண்டுகளில்  பாதுகாக்கவும், போற்றவும், கடைசியாக ஒரு கோப்பை தேநீர் மற்றும் ஒரு சில புகைப்படங்களுடன் நாங்கள் நிகழ்வை முடித்துக் கொண்டோம்.

48 மணிநேரத்திற்கு முன்பு முற்றிலும் அந்நியர்களாக இருந்து, அடுத்த 2 நாட்களில் ஒருவரையொருவர் இணைத்துக்கொள்வது வரை, குழுவை உருவாக்கும் செயற்பாடுகள் மற்றும் அமர்வுகள் அனைத்தும் உண்மையில் சிறந்தவையாக அமைந்திருந்தன. ஒருவரையொருவர் பற்றித் தெரிந்து கொள்வதும், நாம் சந்தித்த அனைத்து தடைகளையும் முறியடிப்படும், எமது எண்களின் வலிமைக்கு தெளிவான சான்றாகும்.

RYLA 2022 நிகழ்வானது ஒரு முழுமையான, சுவாரசியம் நிறைந்த மற்றும் கல்வி சார்ந்த இனிமையான இரண்டு நாட்கள் என்பதற்கு நாங்கள் உண்மையான சான்றாக இருக்க முடியும் என்பதில் ஐயமில்லை.
