The Christmas Gift Box

Christmas is the festive season of joy and peace that leaves a spark of hope in every heart. Giving is not just about donating but also about making a difference. The Rotaract Club of Kandy, always believing that small acts of kindness can make a big difference, annually executes the project Christmas Gift Box, where boxes of stationery items are donated to selected underprivileged schools for the needy kids to motivate them to kick-start a wonderful academic year ahead.

Each year a school/schools from an underprivileged area is selected to make the donations. This year the donations will be handed over to Batagolla Primary School and Ketakandura Primary School. Each box will contain items worth more than 2000 LKR. The set date for the donation is the 27th of December 2022.

The gift boxes are handed over to each student from a different grade. The gift box consists of shoes, socks, and essential stationery items that are much needed to carry on their studies with fewer barriers. The club initiated this project with the sole purpose of giving the kids hope for their future and making them understand and confident that they are not in this battle alone.

The Covid-19 pandemic and the economic downfall in the country have led many students to discontinue their education due to a lack of resources and poverty. By carrying out this project, we would like to do our part to ensure that they continue their studies, ensuring their right to education.

It is those contagious smiles that we can bring to the faces of the kids that remind us once again, for the millionth time, how even the most minute actions, carried out with the best intentions, give us contentment, happiness, and pride. At the end of the day, we, as a club, always look forward to that.
